Capexec Exclusive Tours has been operating under the ownership and management of Mark Finkenstein and Jacqueline Pollok for the past 22 years. Both Mark and Jackie are registered tourist guides.
Mark comes from a professional accounting and lecturing background [CTA (UCT) 1979, AGA(SA)]. He worked as a business consultant in the UK for a number of years and subsequently lectured at a business school in Cape Town. Mark is a dedicated host, an avid and entertaining historian and conveys his love of South Africa with enthusiasm and a keen sense of humour. He is also a transport spokesman for SATSA.
Jacqueline comes from a fine art and teaching background [BAFA (UCT) 1987, HDE (UCT) 1989]. She is the “organiser” in the Capexec family, loves meeting and interracting with people and introducing them to the Fairest Cape. Jackie is as fullfilled refining a special itinerary in the office as she is guiding on the road and being a warm, committed ambassador to our beautiful country. Her wide and varied interests include indigenous Fynbos gardens and healing plants, South African art, architecture and furniture, South African people, current events and more recently, part time coaching. She speaks German fluently.
In 2012, we were very fortunate when Mark Murison joined Capexec on a full time basis. Mark has been in the touring industry for almost 20 years and is a registered guide, although he started out dedicated to wildlife management and conservation in the Eastern Cape. Mark is passionate about nature and Cape Town, the political evolution of South Africa, people, golf, fishing and hiking.
Last year, Cheryse Gouws and Eugene Galley joined Capexec as valued independent contractor guides.
Cheryse has been involved in service industries and working with people in various creative contexts like jewellery design and coaching almost all her working life. The transition to guiding has been a collective culmination of her experiences, abilities and gives her an outlet for honing her remarkable people skills. Her purpose is to serve others to the best of her ability and to be harmonious no matter what the circumstance thereby drawing on her courage, strength and self-observation. She has a passion for cooking, being creative, organized and well prepared. Cheryse loves being outdoors, in nature, surrounding herself with beauty and activities such as hiking, camping, dancing, yoga and Tai Chi.
Eugene comes to Capexec with a host of travel and guiding experience – prior to settling in Cape Town he lead Overland Tours around Southern Africa and has travelled to several continents. His obvious people skills, organisational abilities and guiding prowess assures Capexec of an “all-rounder” who is able to step into doing airport transfers, operations or tours as required. When Eugene is not on the road he indulges his love of sport having come from a sports management background, arranges Charity Quizz shows and events, is involved in the Clifton Life Saving Club in season, reads a lot, enjoys live theatre and keeps abreast of current affairs.
In addition to the abovementioned team who guide guests, freelance registered guides trained to our high standards are also hired.
Capexec currently operates three microbuses (equipped with PA systems) and a luxury sedan, all with air-conditioning and seatbelts:
- x 2 Hyundai Auto Microbus 7 passenger seater (both white in colour, carpeted, tan leather seats)
- Toyota Quantum 9 passenger seater (white in colour, carpeted, cloth seats which are individually adjustable)
- C-Class Mercedes Auto 3 passenger seater (dark blue in colour, carpeted, dark leather seats)
The main thrust of our business is centered on creating individualised, flexible and tailored tours for our discerning clients ranging from FIT to larger groups. Tours are conducted by erudite and qualified guides in well maintained vehicles which are registered with the Provincial Operating License Board to carry passengers for reward, as required by law.
Capexec Exclusive Tours carries public liability insurance (underwritten by Lloyds of London). Capexec enjoys membership of industry bodies SATSA (Southern African Tourism Services Association of which Capexec Exclusive Tours is a bonded member) and TOASA (Tour Operators’ Association of South Africa incorporating TOACT). Both these associations uphold tourism service standards.
Mark Finkenstein
“My time here has been packed full of information which is exactly what I was looking for. Mark has managed to share so much of the political and economic history of SA and at the same time instill a love affair with the Cape’s mountains, sea, vineyards, people and culture. His energy, passion, enthusiasm and intellect married with my interests perfectly. Thank you again. Mary”

“I just wanted to let you know I spoke to Patrick Gallagher yesterday who returned from their honeymoon on the weekend. They had a fabulous trip and he said he wanted to mention the guide in Cape Town! He told me that you were the highlight of their trip!!! He said Christine absolutely LOVED you and they thoroughly enjoyed their touring with you and you were so intelligent, insightful and made their trip! Needless to say I was delighted and told him that of course you are brilliant! Thank you so much for always making our trips so special. Our clients love touring with you!”

Cheryse Gouws
I am writing also to tell you how much we enjoyed Cheryse. She was precious in every way. I love how she treated us, treated merchants, treated someone who was down on their luck, treated those who served us (lunch), treated children dancing, treated locals. She enjoys her job, enjoys people, enjoys life and is so respectful, pleasant, & thoughtful. It didn’t matter what time of day, she was punctual (early), & prepared. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and we enjoyed listening to her. She is an asset to your company.
